Many Dolce racers made the trek out to the first full weekend of racing in the Central Valley, and brought back more than our share of Velo Promo t-shirts, with a few potential upgrades as well.
On Saturday at Cantua Creek Road Race, Isaac Sparling bridged up to two riders on the last lap, and convincingly took the uphill sprint for his first career win. We’re looking forward to more success when he reunites with Zach Starnes and the rest of our Cat 3 team.
Sunday was a day for the climbers at Pine Flat Road Race, where Jacob Berkman snagged his first win as a Dolce, winning solo from a two-person break midway through the race. A bit more coverage can be found over at Norcal Cycling News.
In the E3s, Appel secured his last few Cat 2 upgrade points by making the selection over the climb. Finishing in 4th place, he managed to change a few people’s perceptions of what climbers look like.
In the Cat 4s, Dolce controlled the race from start to finish, with Isaac selflessly keeping the group together until the climb. Chris Zappalà then took over, and rode away from the field for a(nother) solo win, and, more importantly, his first Velo Promo t-shirt. Chris Furgiele finished in the top ten as well.
Continuing the the team’s domination, Brian Schuster kept up his run of podium finishes by making the leap to the top step, with fellow Dolce Ron Lewkiewicz finishing strongly in 5th, and James Weinberger in 9th.
Congratulations to the whole team on a great weekend, and good luck to everyone racing at Snelling on Saturday!
